Maintenance

Interstate Power System's is looking for a Maintenance team member for our Altoona, Iowa location. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the efficiency of our warehouse operations and maintaining the upkeep of our facilities.

The Maintenance member is responsible for a variety of tasks, including driving trucks and forklifts, warehouse, performing minor mechanical work, handling trailer work, conducting routine facility maintenance, and ensuring the yard is organized and operating smoothly. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and have a strong understanding of warehouse operations, equipment, and basic facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Warehouse: warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and shipping products in an organized and efficient manner.
• Vehicle Operation: Operate trucks and forklifts safely and efficiently
• Minor Mechanical Work: Perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
• Trailer Work: Assist in hooking and unhooking trailers, loading and unloading cargo, and ensuring trailers are properly secured and maintained.
• Facility Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, cleaning, and upkeep of the warehouse and facility grounds to ensure a safe and functional environment.
• Yard Organization: Maintain the yard by organizing materials, ensuring proper storage, and keeping the area clean and free of hazards.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
• Inventory Control: Assist in inventory management and ensure accurate record-keeping of materials and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in logistics, maintenance, or related fields are a plus.
• Proven experience in a warehouse, logistics, or maintenance role.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse vehicles safely (forklift certification preferred).
• Basic mechanical skills and experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and perform manual tasks.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to follow regulations.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license with clean record

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with trailer handling and trailer maintenance.
• Previous experience in yard organization and facility upkeep.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems and software.
