Position Overview

As a mid-level Equipment Engineer supporting the Equipment Manager, you will support Massman's equipment operations in the day-to-day and long-term strategy related to managing a unique construction equipment fleet. The focus of this position will be to improve equipment reliability by implementing and managing the company's preventative maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develops and implements cost-effective equipment maintenance activities that meet or exceed business objectives
  • Assists with managing equipment maintenance and repair procedures, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations, specifications and standards
  • Logistics management, coordination, and communication of equipment and materials including movement on waterways
  • Manages long-term and short-term equipment planning, utilization, scheduling, and budgeting
  • Provides oversight for onsite and offsite repairs, ensuring all activities are completed to specifications and procedures
  • Leads identification and development of improvements in equipment capabilities that reduce unplanned events and increase availability
  • Applies value analysis to repair, replacement, or redesign decisions
  • Assists with coordination and management of the Company's Code of Federal Regulations Subchapter M program
  • Provides technical expertise to Operations and Maintenance personnel as necessary
  • Participates in activities related to safety, risk assessment, and hazard analysis procedures involving equipment
  • Supports maintenance technicians by ordering parts and managing inventory
  • Demonstrates leadership through Massman's Incident and Injury Free program
  • Provides estimating support for equipment and material. Understands estimating rates and how they apply to the project. Creates estimating rates on equipment and systems. Recommends and prices equipment and supplies for estimates
  • Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position
  • Spends time in the field as required



Minimum Requirements



  • Education in a related technical field (Diesel/Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology) or equivalent work experience. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management a plus
  • Knowledge of cranes and marine equipment a plus
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an equipment maintenance and repair role
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques, performance analysis, and the ability to solve field problems
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • A highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a proven ability to deliver results
  • Must utilize complex problem solving, critical thinking, and active learning in decision making process
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used in this position. Experience with HCSS Equipment 360 or equivalent equipment management programs a plus
  • Ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the organization



Travel Requirements:



  • Ability to travel for various work assignments as necessary (approx. 20-30%)
