Salary and wages: $15/hour Social Justice and City Mission Department Mission: The Center for Social Justice and City Mission has been established for the purpose of making a deeper and more sustainable impact on the lives of suffering people and struggling communities than the mere provision of social services can achieve. Social Justice and City Mission Internship Program Description: The Social Justice and City Mission (SJCM) Internship Program is a Central Territory supported Christian leadership development hub, offering paid internships to adults at least 18 years old who are seeking to learn and put into action what it means to lead from a justice-informed lens in a corps (church) and/or community context. The SJCM Interns participate in activities specifically designed to enhance knowledge and skills growth, expand professional networks and support career development. The SJCM Internship is a project of the Social Justice and City Mission Department of Central Territory Headquarters, implemented in partnership with the corps and ministry programs. For Interns who work within a local corps context, the corps officer or designate will serve as the direct report with input and support from the SJCM Team. It is the expectation that the SJCM Intern be passionate about transforming individual lives and communities with the gospel. The SJCM Intern will provide support to the SJCM Department, a local corps/community and work directly with the SJCM Director and Secretary to nurture their spiritual and personal growth. The SJCM Intern will work flexibly with the SJCM Team and/or local corps officers as the SJCM Department seeks to educate, equip and engage the field to think and lead from a justice-informed lens. Job Objective: The Intern will work alongside the Territorial Social Justice and City Mission Secretary and Director to develop and implement programs and strategies that advance The Salvation Army's social justice and city mission initiatives in the Central Territory. This Internship will also provide Interns the opportunity to use their passion and gifts to address current and emerging social issues, including but not limited to human rights, human trafficking, gender equity, immigration, racial justice, xenophobia and Christian community empowerment and development. Finally, this position provides the Intern the opportunity to transform lives in local communities with the power of the gospel.
