The FSQA Technician I performs quality control checks on materials and products during the production cycle to ensure items meet quality standard and safety regulations. The FSQA Technician I reports to the FSQA Supervisor
Job Functions:
- Perform inspections real-time on coffee, single-serve cups, bags, and other types of packaging to ensure every product is produced within required parameters.
- Perform inspections throughout the process to ensure quality standards and evaluate work performed by production and QA techs.
- Assure all products meet specification requirements and follow HARPC and Global Food Safety guidelines to ensure the finished product meets food safety and quality requirements.
- Perform quality checks (color, % moisture, density, grind analysis, weights, packaging date codes, packaging integrity, brewing performance, etc.) of product startups and ongoing basis during production.
- Record and document inspection results and compare to expected results to identify record quality failures to be corrected.
- Input accurate results from testing into a quality database and complete all required documentation of laboratory samples and testing results.
- Identify and segregate nonconforming goods for proper disposition and notify QA QA Specialist, leads or assistant manager
- Check that raw materials or components involved in the production process are of suitable quality.
- Visually inspect returned goods delivered by warehouse and, if required, perform analysis on goods and record results.
- Conduct relevant testing of products on hold and rework/reclaim coffee.
- Assist with the investigation of customer complaints and quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
- Perform general daily housekeeping in work area to maintain a quality/safe working environment.
- Collect, organize, and set up product samples for sensory evaluation.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment such as moisture analyzers, scales, brewers, color meter, etc.
- Follow all policies, procedures, standards, safety, and GMP requirements.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed and performing other duties as requested by management.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years' experience with quality inspection, auditing, data collection, and testing.
- Experience and knowledge with Microsoft Office and Office-based database systems.
- Ability to understand department documents
- Ability to display sound logic and attention to details.
- Ability to communicate comfortably and work with co-workers in a team environment. Ability to follow a schedule, as well as verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a program such as quality technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Sound Math skills e.g. Percent Calculations, averages, means, standard deviation etc.
- Respond quickly to information request from internal and external customers.
