Work Schedule
8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours required, as necessary.
Primary Purpose of Position
Receive all incoming mail and scan packages utilizing a handheld scanner. Assign packages to Departments utilizing SCLogic tracking software. Assist in assigning student packages during peak season. Handle time and information sensitive mail acquiring signature from Department liaison for all accountable mail. Sort and deliver departmental mail. Employee must use databases, links and tools to locate faculty/staff and reroute unidentified mail or improperly addressed mail. Manage records and retention system for departmental shipping forms and documents. Generate reports from metering machines, perform daily close out procedures reconciling funds and inputting information into databases used for benchmarking. Communicate and collaborate with colleagues to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Serve as department liaison on 2Ship shipping software clearly advising departments on shipping options answering questions and inquiries. Use Pitney Bowes software to meter outgoing mail and ensure postage is applied to the correct department fund number. Ensure all mail count and postage data is accurately recorded in database. Position requires frequent rotation on carrier routes for maximum coverage during personnel shortages and authorized absences. Identify potential problems/issues and provide solutions. Utilize SCLogic database and contact United States Postal Service to investigate and resolve tracking and delivery questions/issues. To conduct daily tasks, this position must remain knowledgeable of University and United States Postal Service shipping requirements, procedures, updates and their application. Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and software systems. Utilize a state owned vehicle to deliver mail to departments on campus, foundation and Center City.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or successful completion of its equivalency and one year of relevant experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Two years of customer service experience with great communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Postal regulations and classes of mail.
  • Prior experience with Mail delivery preferred.
  • Experience sorting and distributing letter mail; obtaining signatures for accountable mail.
  • Experience with processing outgoing mail and package-metering, tracking/address label creation.
  • Experience with processing mail & packages using tracking software including handheld mobile devices.
  • Experience utilizing handheld scanners.
  • Ability to organize, implement, and evaluate programs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, flexibility of cross training.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License needed for position.
