As the Summer Day Camp Coordinator, you'll play a key role in helping kids (ages 5-12) grow, have fun, and learn in a safe, energetic, and nurturing environment. You'll work closely with the Youth Development Supervisor to bring exciting, faith-filled programming to life, blending sports, recreation, music, art, and more. The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will be at the heart of the action, making sure each activity runs smoothly, and every moment counts. Kroc Summer Camp is an entirely outdoor camp experience. The Coordinator will be expected to work a significant amount of time outdoors mentoring camp counselors, assisting with disciplinary issues and providing additional support to counselors during activities. The Kroc Center Summer Day Camp Coordinator's pay rate is $18.00/ hour. Camp runs June 9 - August 15. Job Objective: The Summer Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Youth Development Supervisor with youth programming within the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (RJKCCC). The Coordinator will primarily focus on the 5-12 year old age range with oversight of youth programming during Summer Camp. They will utilize this programming to share the gospel, introduce young people to Jesus Christ, offer them a developmentally friendly environment, and lead them into the fellowship of the Kroc Center through a wide variety of opportunities. Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Education: Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Experience: 2+ years of experience working with youth is required. Program planning and execution experience is required. Skills:
-OR- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Certifications: First aid, CPR, AED certifications and Safe from Harm and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training will be obtained during the orientation period. Employee must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier. Supervisory Responsibility: The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will assist the Youth Development Supervisor in supervising 15-20 seasonal full-time Summer Camp Counselors. The Summer Day Camp Coordinator will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may be required to lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, normal depth perception, and the ability to focus. Working Conditions: Some aspects of this job may require the employee to be exposed to weather elements for a period of time. The noise level at these activities may increase to moderate and loud depending on the activity. This job is, at times, performed in an office environment at normal room temperature.
