General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking fora Mammography Technologist to join our team!

The ideal candidate will bean American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certified individual with anatomical knowledge.

The Mammography Technologistwill performdiagnostic medical radiographic procedures and Mammography.

Primary Duties:

  • Evaluates images for technical quality,provideshard copy records, andmaintainsimage archives, ensuring proper identification.Prepares,identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medicationsas prescribed bya licensed practitioner.

  • Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures.Providespatient education andpostproceduralinstructions.Positions patients to bestdemonstratearea of interest, assumes responsibility for physical and psychological needs of patient during procedures, andprovidesimmobilizationassistancewhen necessary, ensuring safety.Performs patient follow-up as required by MQSA/ACR standards.

  • Verifies informed consent form andassistsa licensed practitioner during interventional, needle localization, and biopsy procedures, employing sterile techniques. Transports patients toappropriate imagingarea; prepares andmaintainsroom. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventive maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis including any quality controlrequired.

  • Performs QC as requiredbyMQSA and ACR standards. Has knowledge of frequency of performance, limits of acceptability, andappropriate actionto be taken when not acceptable.Performs radiographic examinations as assigned.

  • Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Completes necessary clerical and computer tasks asrequired.Providesinstruction on anddemonstratesequipment operation, filming, and other technical topics for staff and students. Conducts didactic for students asrequired.Requests and orderssupplyas necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Certification by the ARRT and licensed by the State of Maryland.

  • Mammography and diagnostic experience.

  • Associate degreepreferred.

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $56.85
