Scope: The Lead Lab Technician of the Analytical Chemical Lab area is accountable for ensuring that the areas meet daily, weekly and monthly safety, quality and delivery goals. The Lead must proactively communicate with all members of the management and engineering teams to ensure a timely, accurate flow of information about the performance of areas and employees under their direct supervision. They must be able to work with close to minimal supervision, depending on assigned job level and skill capability. The Lead Lab Technician, by applying one or more lab skills, will be able to process lab analyses per the designated Manufacturing Process Procedures and ensure that all testing schedules required for Chemistry Analytical Lab are adhered to. Monday - Friday, 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM. Initial training may be performed on an earlier schedule. This position is located at 8192 Southpark Lane, Littleton, Colorado. Position is eligible for 2nd shift premium of $2/hourly. Duties and Responsibilities:

Process analyses per Chemistry Analytical Lab procedures and relevant lead duties including:

  • From process, procedure, and TDS documentation to determine necessary tests to be performed.

  • Know and understand chemical interactions, lab procedures, and calculate dilutions.

  • Perform a wide range of chemical analyses including, but not limited to: Titration, Cyclic Voltammetry Stripping (CVS), AA, UV-VIS, Dilutions, Etch Weight Loss, pH Measurement.

  • Work with Process Area Manager and Chemical lab personnel to understand basic fundamentals of chemical analysis and continued improvement.

  • Ensure all chemical lab procedures and safety concerns are being adhered to.

  • Recognize testing anomalies and escalate notifications accordingly.

  • Aid Process Area Manager in TrueChem to evaluate chemical bath adherence.

  • Monitor analysis trends and interpret statistical process control (SPC) data

  • Enter required information on job travelers, add slips, calibration records, and outside service documentation.

  • Inform appropriate staff/departments of any out-of-spec conditions, bath shutdowns, late add-slips, or discrepant results. Work closely with engineering and management to disposition any issues quickly.

  • Perform all miscellaneous tests such as customer qualifications and engineer tests.

  • Occasionally perform chemistry additions to production baths and/or supervise such adds by production operators.

  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on most lab equipment, chemical controllers, and other lab related equipment.

  • Interact with vendors and visitors.

  • Initiate or aid in written instructions and procedures.

  • Use all required Personal Protective Equipment

  • File and store documentation both physically in the lab and within computer network drives.

  • Monitor department to ensure uniform and constant flow of work through all stages of testing.

  • Manage lab schedule and delegate assignments when employees on other shifts are absent. This includes receiving notifications by email or phone of another lab tech's absence, working out that day's schedule based on reference material, and flowing that information to Process Area Manager and/or Engineering.

  • Work with Production Department when necessary to schedule weekend overtime with team.

  • Follow all preventive maintenance schedules.

  • The employee is responsible to follow all safety standards as outlined by the certification that he or she has been trained to at all times. The health and safety regulations encompass the cleanliness of the area that he or she will be working as a result.

  • Ensure employees complete scheduled training programs.

  • Ensure that employees are following established operating procedures when processing product, and that equipment is operated within expected control limits.

  • Participate in root cause identification, along with corrective actions for quality issues identified within assigned areas.

  • Ensure employees have appropriate training for assigned job responsibilities. Maintains training matrix for assigned areas. Responsible for cross training within assigned area.

  • Provide input for employee evaluations, coaching, and recognition activities.

  • Mentor new hires.

  • Monitor employee adherence company policies.

  • Work with Process Area, Engineering, and Production Managers to continuously improve the process.

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • PCB manufacturing experience preferred, but not required

  • Ability to produce quality work under pressure

  • Able to read, interpret, and follow Customer and IPC Specifications, TDS and MSDS, and process documentation.

  • Computer skills: MS Office, Outlook, and TrueChem software.

  • Skills and understanding in usage of lab equipment including, but not limited to: microscopes, pipettes, heating/mixing pads, etc.

  • Able to perform basic arithmetic functions.

  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry.

  • Able to read and interpret travelers and written instructions.

  • Able to read and understand the basic IPC and Customer Specifications for both product requirements and test methods.

  • Ability to understand and follow posted procedures.

  • Ability to accept constructive criticism.

  • Understand and follow all safety codes.

  • Ability to stand on feet for 8 hours

  • Ability to lift up to 30-40 lbs.

  • Able to communicate fluently (read, write, and speak) in English.

  • Able to understand and follow daily work direction, process instructions in English as received from supervisor or other qualified person.

  • Ability to stand while testing/analyzing as well as some walking, bending and lifting.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with co-workers within the department, as well as customers, managers, and employees from other departments.

Education and Experience: Education:
  • Associates Degree in Chemistry or Related Field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required Experience:
  • 3-5 years related experience
Preferred Experience:
  • PCB manufacturing experience preferred, but not required

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation ranges for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TTM Technologies, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on each individual set of circumstances. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

$52,754 - $87,923

Additional compensation: An annual or quarterly company bonus may apply based on position assignment. Positions hired for alternative shift may be eligible for a shift premium based on the assigned shift and location.
