ATI is seeking to hire a Senior Metallurgical Engineer to support the Specialty Materials business unit. This position will be based in Monroe, NC.

Responsibilities:



  • Review customer specifications and support sales teams by approving customer quotes
  • Create and implement items, recipes, mill instructions and other quality system documents for Nickel billet products
  • Review deviations and nonconformances, and determine root causes to prevent recurrence
  • Support certifications and testing of Nickel billet orders and shipments
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools throughout the manufacturing process of Nickel Forged Bar products, particularly for nuclear power end uses, leading to increased yield, better quality, and reduced costs
  • Provide technical support to supply chain, operations, and quality to facilitate the manufacture and shipment of material
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams during customer engagement for both on-site and off-site meetings
  • Communicate results to management, colleagues and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations

Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline with 5 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing setting; OR

    • Master of Science in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing setting; OR
    • PhD in Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline





Preferred Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of wrought processing (i.e., conventional melting, press forging, radial forging, hot rolling, conditioning, heat treatment, etc.) preferred.
  • Must be comfortable meeting with customers, presenting at technical meetings, and be willing to travel (2-4 times per year).
  • Must be enthusiastic, excited about tackling challenges, and comfortable with working in a continuous improvement environment.
