We are currently seeking a Project Manager/Data Center Management Specialist to join our team in Sterling, Virginia (US-VA), United States (US).

Job Description:

Project Manager/Data Center Management Specialist will be part of a team that will provide project management services in support of the Data Center Transformation Initiative which consolidates data centers and optimizes the client's Information Technology (IT) resources. Support will include planning, scheduling, and assisting in tenant migrations into the data center, onto the organizations Infrastructure as a Services (IaaS) platform; or onto other future service offerings to be determined. Additional responsibilities include administrative support, Business Relationship Management (BRM) support, financial planning, performance measurement, data collecting and reporting.

Job Duties:

  • Candidate shall provide project management support in the areas of initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing assigned projects and tasks, as well as, support in the preparation and presentation of technical, management and operational briefings, data calls, and reports.
  • Project management support for component migrations
  • Schedule project meetings, prepare meeting agendas and facilitate meetings
  • Prepare and provide briefings, including preparationand distribute meeting minutes
  • Create and maintain data center migration processes and corresponding forms
  • Maintain and coordinate data center service catalog
  • Collaborate with other government CEFs to ensure standard process development across DOJ
  • Participate in client working groups and develop associated documentation
  • Provide Risk Management support
  • Document and track project action items
  • Develop chargeback models for data center services and provide quarterly invoices
  • Draft weekly activity reports
  • Assist with annual inventory
  • Provide other general administrative assistance
  • Maintain the client SharePoint site and contribute to the CEF SharePoint site
  • Candidateshall serve as Business Relationship Managers for client tenants during the migration to the facility or onto the IaaS platform and throughout their tenancy at Sterling.
  • Assist tenants with all aspects of their migration into SPTC from upfront planning of power and space requirements; shipping of equipment to SPTC; to providing the findings from the Quality Assurance (QA) check back to the tenant for corrective action.
  • Serve as BRM throughout a customer's tenancy at SPTC to ensure customer support and compliance with facility and data center requirements, as well as, to coordinate smart hands assistance/technical support with the appropriate support personnel.
  • Provide escort services to tenants needing to access IT space at SPTC
  • Review and respond to applicable service manager tickets
  • Document and maintain tenant migration schedules and ensure integration into the master schedule
  • Coordinate shipment of equipment and supplies for tenants and the client program staff
  • Ensure configuration management through tenant adherence to the client data center change plan and participation in the data center change board
  • Provide a weekly status report of tenant migrations
  • Candidateshall provide support in collecting and reporting quarterly, annual and ad hoc inventory data for the client project. Contractor assistance shall be provided for all existing and future inventory and data collection efforts within the DCTI project.
  • Quarterly reporting of all assets within the client data center including: virtual and physical assets, storage, physical space and utilization
  • Quarterly reporting of Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
  • Monthly performance reporting of data center up-time
  • Bi-Weekly capacity analysis reporting
  • Asset verification against rack diagrams and component data center change forms
  • Utilization of data collection and normalization software tools to automate data collection efforts
  • Assistance monitoring and reporting data associated with the Data Center Infrastructure Management tools including but not limited to site scan and rack power manager.
  • Local and CONUS travel may be expected.
  • Currently the team is shutting down the client Data Center for a move to a commercial Data Center in the Ashburn, VA area.Additional tasks and skills to include:
    • Standing up a new Data Center
    • Cabling and installing new/relocated hardware
    • Installing Power and managing power needs.
    • Documenting installation, power, cabling, etc

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Physical Science, or other technology, or equivalency
    • High School Diploma + 4 additional years of experience = Associate's Degree
    • Associate's Degree + 4 additional years of experience = Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 6 years of project management service support experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related data center experience.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance. Pass DEA Suitability Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/knowledge to include:
    • IT Service Management (ITIL) / Strategy / Service Design
    • Data Center Information Management (DCIM) - Hosting
    • Data Center Consolidation from Program Management perspective
    • IT Project Portfolio (Project Backlog)
    • SharePoint content updates and management
    • Weekly and monthly status reporting
    • Use of tools such as: MS Office Products to include Word, Excel, Project and Visio
