Location/Site: Lake County, IL- MUST BE ABLE TO INTERVIEW ONSITE


Job Description

Apply multi-disciplinary skills in engineering, controls and computer programming to design, build, and program a collection of laboratory equipment in custom enclosures to enable a complete custom automated platform for smart chemical process development

* Integrate laboratory equipment and sensors in a customized setup using standard communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus(TCP ) or custom interfaces.

* Develop relevant and necessary engineering documentation, including; process and instrumentation diagrams, control panel detail drawings, instrument wire maps, user manuals, operations sheets, work instructions, and design reports

* Manage workload among changing priorities, alternating between hands-on instrument automation, software development, and automated equipment testing

* Interact with internal groups, vendors, and third-party custom automation companies

* Learn and continue to broaden your skill set of the technologies to deliver exciting, effective, and innovative solutions

* Ensure that automation projects meet safety and quality standards according to regulations and company standards

* Training of in-house scientists on the use of automation equipment

Requirements

* Experience in engineering or programming with real-world experience in control and automation

* Demonstrated ability in Ignition Programming and design.

* Demonstrated written/verbal communication, project management, and collaborative skills

a) Required Skill 1 Knowledge of communication standards to connect equipment to the computer and automate specified set of equipment with a unified program.

b) Required Skill 2 Knowledge in Control cabinets wiring ( digital and analog input-outputs)

c) Required Skill 3 Hands-on experience with automation and use of lab equipment such as pumps, valves, flow and UV/pH/conductivity monitors is a plus

d) Required Skill 4 strong programming and/or instrument background are preferred. Experience with writing software and controls documentation and requirements

e) Required Skill 5 Working knowledge of c#, Python and other programming languages, process instrumentation and controls.

3. What years of experience, education, and/or certification are required? 5+ years, experience is more preferred than education. Preferred BS degree

4. What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification? Lab automation with hands on experience and working knowledge of programming as listed above

5. What is the environment that this person will be working in (i.e. group setting vs individual role)? Group setting and individual role.
