RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world's premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information:

This full-time position supports the Radar Cross Section (RCS) Team within the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM) Branch at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the Navy's East Coast open-air test range and provides real-time test and evaluation (T&E) services including data acquisition, instrumentation, data analysis, recording, test management, and airspace management to DoD and commercial customers. ATR deploys complex, cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind instrumentation and this position will be immersed in a fast-paced, rewarding technical environment at the forefront of naval T&E.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Applies electronic engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate electronic components of test and training range instrumentation systems, data processing systems, communications systems, and display systems.
  • Responsible for hardware design and selection related to digital receiver and timing board, waveform generation, digital signal distribution, data acquisition, system time distribution, and system fiber architecture.
  • Responsible for software design related to digital receiver control, data acquisition, and waveform design.
  • Responsible for adapting system configuration to meet customer timing and waveform requirements

Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements:



  • Junior Level:

    • BS Degree in an electronics or computer engineering discipline from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
    • Experience with C++, JAVA, or other non-interpreted, object-oriented programming languages required
    • General networking skills required
    • Experience with logic circuits and the use of the principles of Boolean algebra to simplify complex expressions desired
    • Experience with test equipment, signal generators, logic analyzers desired
    • Experience with Matlab and Python desired


  • Journeyman Level:

    • BS Degree in an electronics or computer engineering discipline from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
    • A minimum of 3 years of work experience performing the stated or similar function
    • A minimum of 2 years of work experience with electrical engineering functions related to development, test, or evaluation of instrumentation systems. Possess an academic and work experience background in such areas as preparation of technical and operational test plans, execution of sophisticated tests, certification of systems, logistic support planning, technical data review, and analytical interpretation of test results.
    • Proven experience with C++, JAVA, or other non-interpreted, object-oriented programming languages is required
    • Proven ability to work well with a team of software engineers with specifications, designs, technologies, and operational implementations of software solutions is required
    • General networking skills required
    • Experience with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) design and development via visual programming tools desired
    • Experience with test equipment, signal generators, logic analyzers desired.
    • Experience with analog to digital and digital to analog devices desired
    • Experience with low-level network traffic generation and interpretation desired
    • Experience with Matlab and Python desired


  • Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass drug screening


Security Clearance:



  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance


Work Conditions:

Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching. Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
