Verizon's FCBA Public Policy Internship Program seeks to attract, develop and support law students who are interested in pursuing legal careers in technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) law and policy. This internship for 1L's will provide exposure to the practice of law in a corporate legal setting and introduce interns to the diverse and complex nature of in-house policy and government affairs at Verizon.

Interns will work in partnership with Verizon's Public Policy Summer Interns and contribute to meaningful projects in our Public Policy and Government Affairs Organization. You will use your drive and enthusiasm to contribute to and learn about the diverse areas of law covered by our regulatory and legislative offices. Interns will also have the opportunity to work with different areas of the Verizon legal department, including Verizon's worldwide Pro Bono Program. What you learn will help you grow professionally and personally.

In this role, you may have the opportunity to:

  • Research and summarize legal developments and/or case law in practice areas such as Antitrust, M&A, Compliance, Labor and Employment, IP, and Privacy.

  • Contribute to projects that relate to state and/or federal regulatory issues affecting the communications industry.

  • Produce written work product subject to our confidentiality restrictions.

  • Go on field trips to different offices, the US Capital, the Federal Communications Commission, and more to learn about different aspects of the law.

You must be currently enrolled in a degree program and be in good academic standing to be considered.

In this hybrid internship, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager. This hybrid internship will be based out of Washington, DC. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

What we're looking for....

You're a motivated self-starter. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where new challenges come up every day. You are flexible, dependable and work well in varying environments. Learning quickly is personally rewarding and inspires you to take smart risks.

You'll need to have:

  • Must be an active participant in the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) 2025 Diversity Pipeline Program..

  • Current full-time enrollment as a first-year law student in a law degree program with a graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.

  • Willingness to work in Washington, DC.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession (e.g., through membership in affinity groups, academic coursework, extra curricular and volunteer activities, etc).

  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.

  • Analytical and leadership skills.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
