The Director, Market and Social Research (Finance/Economy focus) plays a pivotal role in driving the research initiatives of our organization, with a primary focus on consumer finance and financial decision-making. This position is crucial for expanding our presence in both federal and commercial markets, supporting clients such as the Federal Reserve, Department of Labor, and Census, as well as not-for-profit and academic research organizations. The Director will lead account teams to design and execute comprehensive research programs, ensuring alignment with client needs and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage account teams in the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research projects tailored to client objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with federal agencies, commercial entities, and nonprofit institutions, focusing on both business retention and expansion.
  • Oversee the entire business development process, including identifying opportunities, capturing leads, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
  • Employ advanced research methodologies and techniques, such as usability research, user testing, product testing, A/B testing, experimental methods, eye tracking, behavioral science, and communications research.
  • Actively contribute to thought leadership by publishing insights and participating in industry forums.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, Ipsos' products and services, and the competitive landscape in the finance and economy research domain.
  • Manage partnerships with a range of organizations, including large enterprises, small businesses, and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs).



Required Skills and Experience:



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record in generating new business and expanding existing relationships in the finance and economy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading research and advisory services for government clients, as well as commercial and nonprofit sectors.
  • Expertise in consumer finance topics and financial decision-making research.
  • Proficiency in business development skills: prospecting, qualifying, presenting, needs assessment, and closing deals.
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver effective presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing government contracts, with a focus on budget management and subcontractor coordination
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%).


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Market Research, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with experimental research methods and cutting-edge technologies, such as eye tracking and behavioral science applications.
  • Proficiency in Spanish language skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar certification.
  • Expertise in managing time and materials (T&M) government contracts.

In accordance with NY/CO/CA/WA law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $105,000 to $125,000. Your final base salary will be determined based on several non-discriminatory factors which may include but are not limited to location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
