Job Responsibilities:

The Director, Continuing Education Provider Recognition directs the operations of the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program, a program which accredits providers of continuing dental education (CE). The director is the lead staff for the program, providing strategic direction and support to the Board of the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition. The director contributes expertise in the formation and implementation of CE recognition policies and standards, researches, analyzes and writes policy reports, and oversees the implementation and day-to-day operations of ADA CERP policies and procedures. The director maintains on-going communication with stakeholders and communities of interest.

Must Have:



  • Bachelor's degree or experience in lieu of degree
  • 10 years experience with accreditation or recognition processes for continuing education in the healthcare professions
  • Progressive experience in a healthcare organization, professional membership organization or accrediting agency
  • Experience managing committees
  • Experience with developing and managing budgets
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance standards and processes for continuing education in the health care professions, in particular continuing dental and/or medical education
  • Knowledge of association structures, work flow and operational procedures
  • Strong critical thinking and analytic skills
  • Verbal communication, writing, analytical, collaboration, presentation skills
  • A self-starter, results-focused with strong strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Travel 3+ times per year to attend annual meeting of ADA House of Delegates; give informational presentations; network with accreditors in other health professions
  • Position may require more than the standard number of hours of work within a workweek; Position may require before or after hours work; Position may require weekend work


Nice to Have:



  • Knowledge of organized dentistry
  • Working knowledge of ADA CERP Recognition Standards, or accreditation requirements for CE in other healthcare professions
  • Experience planning and implementing CE activities for health professionals
  • Experience developing and presenting educational/training activities for external and internal stakeholders
