Guest Services Administrator

Job Objective: The Guest Services Administrator is a collaborative member of the overall team focused on providing excellent service to internal and external individuals in support of the programs and mission of The Salvation Army. This role emphasizes compassionate customer service to guests. This role is responsible for ensuring that all who come to The Salvation Army are served or referred as quickly and as compassionately as possible.

Essential Functions:



  • Promote programs and special events and invite clients and guests


  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring clients and guests feel welcome


  • Answer calls relating to assistance, completing a telephone screening (if eligible) for Emergency Assistance and Family Lodge; provide referral information when appropriate


  • Return all calls relating to assistance within 48 hours of receiving them, completing a telephone screening (if eligible) for Emergency Assistance and Family Lodge; provide referral information when appropriate


  • Assist leadership with administrative tasks on an as-needed basis


  • Assist in covering front-desk as directed


  • Assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and safe conditions in waiting areas


  • Assist in monitoring shower program


  • Check pantry clients in and out


  • Assist in stocking pantry shelves


  • Assist in managing pantry volunteers


  • Respond promptly to radio calls and other contacts seeking assistance, communicate well and be ready and willing to assist fellow team members


  • Assist in seasonal programs as directed


  • Assess and improve areas of responsibility in collaboration with leadership on a continual basis


  • Perform all duties with compassion and the will to do good for others



Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum two years' relevant experience; combination of relevant training and experience will be considered in lieu of experience requirement

Skills/Abilities:



  • Lead a ministry of hospitality toward clients and guests
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written
  • Manage multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented
  • Interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner
  • Work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Work effectively in a team setting
  • Good judgment in personal actions
  • Read, interpret, and implement work orders
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred


Supervisory Responsibility: None

Physical Requirements: Include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting; grabbing, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching overhead. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

Travel: None

Driving: Driving is required. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence. Must be approved and maintain approval through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions: Work is other than routine with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Deadlines are a regular part of the job. Under direction where definite objectives are established, must plan and arrange a significant portion of own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor or others, and possess the ability to prioritize work. Will often engage with others in the community to form collaborative alliances, influence, motivate, manage change, and address barriers. This position will require some weekend and evening work.
