DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Special Investigator 1, you are essential in ensuring the integrity of racing by investigating and verifying applicants for the Commission of Racing. You will address illegal activities, violations of Pennsylvania racing regulations, and issues related to drug and alcohol abuse. You will also obtain authorization for the release of confidential information, perform fingerprinting, photograph applicants, and verify licensees' eligibility, all while upholding the highest standards in the racing community. Representing the Race Track Manager, you will compile investigative data, deliver testimonies, and act as the prosecutor during Stewards hearings. Your responsibilities include interviewing applicants with prior arrests or racing suspensions, conducting drug and alcohol tests, and securing evidence and samples.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Temporary full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in criminal investigation work and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post Employment Requirement:
  • A Commission Employee License is required for this position or will be obtained once hired.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
