THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Officer 2 (Safety Specialist), you will be responsible for directing safety services within all 9+ DHS office locations. You will plan, organize, and evaluate all safety policies and be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing business continuity processes and procedures. You will not only be responsible for planning but also conducting and debriefing regular exercises to test the adequacy of existing security plans and recommending modifications.

Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining Standard Emergency Response Plans (SERP) and work with DHS staff and others to keep the plan current.

  • Communicating, in an effective and timely way, with staff and leaders so that they are prepared to respond accurately in the event of an emergency.

  • Schedule and monitor fire alarms and drills in all DHS buildings.

  • Ensure that the necessary exit signs, building layout guides, and instructional materials are available and posted.

  • Ensure that all DHS facilities maintain basic first aid supplies and ensure that supplies are replenished as necessary.

  • Manage the staff alert notification system.

  • Develop and maintain agency-wide Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP).

  • Ensure policies are communicated to staff and stakeholders so they can implement the plan.

  • Facilitate safety trainings (CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, etc.) for all of DHS staff.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Scheduled hours can vary depending on the needs of the regional office.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1; or
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
