Job Summary: Bongards Premium Cheese is looking for a dedicated, dynamic and experienced operations professional to serve as a Production Supervisor on our night shift. The Production Supervisor will supervise production and sanitation line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervise production line operation throughout the entire process on all lines that are running to ensure quality and productivity.
  • Train and coach production line employees on job specific tasks and coordinate chemical training.
  • Update SOP's as they require changes, and re-train employees when there is a change to an SOP or annually. Shadow employees during SOP training. Brief each employee on each individual job description, obtain signature and file. Give all training documentation and sign-offs to Human Resources to be filled.
  • Responsible for Root Cause Analysis and Countermeasure Implementation.
  • Conduct and complete a New Hire Weekly Progress Report during the probationary period for employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include: work area assignments, documenting any overtime on an Overtime Exemption Sheet and getting approval from the production manager, making and posting daily schedules, employee vacations, manage employee breaks, approve timecards through UKG, perform daily checks and verify temp hours and overtime assignments.
  • Responsible for the Training and Development of Team Leads.
  • Conducts daily meetings with team (Start of Shift Meetings).
  • Prepare and coordinate changeovers in advance for a smooth and fast transition. Conduct changeovers within a 30 minute timeframe.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.
  • Coordinates support resources to resolve issues (Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, etc).
  • Responsible to meet shift and department production goals.
  • Responsible for quality of product produced. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject any product outside of specifications.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures.
  • Leads 5S activities in Production Areas.
  • Communicates with other Shift Supervisors / Leads and Production Manager.
  • Coordinates resource allocation between all areas.
  • Uses and teaches problem solving methods.
  • Ensures SOP's are followed and accurate.
  • Conduct a walk through with the oncoming supervisor of the entire process area and document any deficiencies. Both supervisors should sign-off on the Supervisor Checklist.
  • Communicate and participate with the safety committee to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Carry out all disciplinary actions with respect to attendance and other violations. Consult with Human Resources when necessary.
  • Ensures efficient and effective execution of weekly shutdown and startup process.
  • Coordinate line shutdown for washout process then COP and CIP of the plant.
  • Ensure proper use and organization of rework both in Grinding room and Cooler.
  • If questions arise concerning job duties, contact Production Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Manager.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Follow-up on any rework or trim generated to the QA Department during your shift. Communicate daily by email with all other supervisors, Production Manager, Plant Manager, QA Manager and Maintenance Supervisor with a brief summary of the shift. Please include breakdowns lasting over 30 minutes and if any excessive rework was generated throughout your shift.
  • Verify barrel cheese and raw ingredients including rework used in slice, bulk and loaf products.
  • Observe and perform line checks / housekeeping throughout shift.
  • Review all production and quality control paperwork for accuracy.
  • Conduct temp GMP and safety training.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skill required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer knowledge or Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures and machinery.
  • Knowledge and proper documentation of all production quality paperwork.
  • Sanitation systems including CIP and COP.
  • Knowledge of chemicals and titrating of chemicals.
  • Good communication skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Plant environment and some office atmosphere.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for parts of the day.
