The Chief of Staff (COS) for Microsoft's new Chief Operations Officer (COO) is hiring a Business Manager (BM) to play a key role within the organization to help deliver on the objectives of the COO, the office of the COO, and the organization. In this new organization, we are embarking on a cross-company transformation, leveraging incredible teams across key engineering and operational functions. Our foundation in technology and operational excellence will help us tackle challenges, seize opportunities, and create impactful results for our business, customers, and employees. Our focus is on creating value through continuous improvement, aligning customer needs, technology innovation, and business impact. By simplifying and improving processes, we aim to empower employees and benefit customers. Embracing our AI products will supercharge our outcomes and set an example for others. The candidate should have a proven track record and deep knowledge of business strategy, business operations, customer and partner engagement, and internal stakeholder management. This role calls for a balance of leadership and influence skills across the senior leaders within the team and beyond. An ability to anticipate and respond quickly as new opportunities and situations arise is critical.
Responsibilities Manage business operations including ROB, budget and forecasting, tracking KPIs, and maintaining our tools and processes. Help foster a culture where people feel great about working in the organzation and where we support inclusion, generate energy, and build community by helping drive D&I priorities, career and skills development, and morale. Serve as a trusted advisor for the COO, COS, and the team, and handle special projects and incoming requests as they arise. Maximize and extend the impact of the COO by collaborating on internal communications, consulting on highest value activities, delivering high quality and efficient prep, and ensuring follow up and other actions are resolved. Empower success of the org by creating clarity around priorities and enabling efficiency, including ensuring we have: Clear and transparent priorities Predictable, published rhythms and cadences to help the org deliver against its priorities Effective and empowering people programs and tracking mechanisms No compliance violations Effective budget management in partnership with Finance Positive relationships within and outside of the org including with HR, CELA, and Finance partners Engage directly with partners and customers where needed, which could include preparation for executive meetings, deal negotiations, etc. About you: You aredetail-oriented, strategic, and data-driven- you can work with both quantitative & qualitative data, understanding immediate roadblocks, urgent asks, and long-term initiatives. You areindependent and self-managing - you learn through osmosis, thrive in a dynamic environment without a lot of guidance, and manage ambiguity and competing priorities while producing optimal results. You can influenceothers through your expertise - you are able to use logical and strategic thinking to motivate a diverse organization towards a collective goal with precision. You are concise and to the point. You possess executive maturity and embody our Culture and ValuesYou use sound judgment that incorporates analysis, a pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals and stakeholder priorities to get to the right outcome for the org, our customers, and the company. You are proactive, forward thinking and able to effectively and quickly synthesize disparate information into clear recommendations, actions and decisions. You have strong project management skills, with the ability to drive for results across a distributed set of stakeholders across multiple projects. You'readaptable and good at context switching. You're comfortable flexing between strategy and the nitty-gritty execution. You can comfortably and easily manage multiple projects, switching seamlessly between them. You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get the job done when needed. You areself-motivated and have a bias for action. You take pride in your work.
