The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

This is an MTA position-specific recruitment for a generic job classification. The resulting list of eligibles will be used under TSHRS to staff this MTA position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future generic or job specific recruitment for this job classification.

The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for Metro Subway or Light Rail OCC Control Room Controller.

This position is responsible for Metro/Light Rail Control Center functions including monitoring system wide train movements, train positions, route alignments as displayed on the Central Supervisory Control System. The controller regulates and/or modify route alignments on the Mainline, Yard storage tracks, and Yard transition areas. They monitor voice communications channel and communicate with Yard personnel to implement the daily schedule of trains on the Mainline. They will assist other Controllers in combined responsibilities.

Controllers will also monitor Power Substations, Supervisory Control and Data Analysis (SCADA), and system Facilities. The Controllers may notify Field Supervision and Managers of operational issues while managing the day-to-day operations of core service. They will perform assorted task such as data entry, telephone communications, and Hyper-Alert notifications to notify MTA management. Controllers work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays and are assigned to work one of three shifts in a 24-hour period.



Qualifications

Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bona-fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills or abilities). The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word. 1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Management or a related field may be substituted for the experience at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience, for up to two years of the required non-supervisory experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

Licenses & Certifications

1. Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
