Description

Starting Salary Range: $101,500 - $111,500 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

In MISO's Planning Engineer role, you'll drive process improvements in interregional planning while collaborating with cross-functional teams-spanning areas within MISO including Expansion Planning, Economic Planning, and Cost Allocation. With massive transmission projects on the horizon, you'll work closely with MISO stakeholders and others in our industry to chart our course forward. Our Planning Engineer will have expertise and passion to guide impactful decisions; along with:



  • A bachelor's degree or higher in one of several engineering disciplines (see qualifying degrees below).
  • At least one year of experience in power system planning or operations.


While not required, major bonus points for:



  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with PSS/E power flow and MUST applications.
  • Knowledge of TSAT, VSAT, TARA, or POM power system analysis software.


What does success look like? Success will be the demonstrated ability to:



  • Conduct power flow modeling, contingency analysis, results management, project reviews, and compliance reporting.
  • Perform reliability assessments using established compliance processes to ensure the transmission system's reliability, adequacy, and security while meeting long-term customer needs.
  • Review MISO's transmission plans and neighboring systems' plans, collaborate with stakeholders, and incorporate their feedback into interregional transmission plans.
  • Present technical details to stakeholders with clarity and transparency.
  • Collaborate across System Planning and other departments to develop models and scenarios, synthesize results from reliability, transfer, and economic analyses, and quantify project benefits.
