The School Of Medicine Pathology & Anatomical Sciences Department Job Description
The School Of Medicine Pathology & Anatomical Sciences Department is hiring for one Medical Coding Specialist. (This posting is linked to Job ID 54609 Medical Coding Specialist and only one candidate will be selected.) The Medical Coding Specialist will perform the following: Review documentation: Review for documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with coding guidelines. Assign CPT and ICD- 10 codes: Accurately assign CPT and ICD-10 codes based on documentation and coding guidelines. Denial: Review payer denials, responsible for correction and resubmission to obtain payment in a timely manner. Payer Edits: Review and resolve payer edits that prevent claims from being processed or paid appropriately. Compliance: Ensure that coding adheres to all legal, regulatory and payer-specific guidelines. Collaboration: Work closely with providers and billing department for optimal claim submission and reimbursement. Shift
Work Hours/Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a coding certification program or equivalent training to obtain certification using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and the CPT-4 coding systems. One (1) year of related medical records coding experience may be substituted. One of the following certifications within one (1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification: --Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Preferred Qualifications
Credentials: Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Anticipated Hiring Range
