Description : Library Reference Specialist Georgia State University University Library Decatur Campus Located on six Georgia State University campuses throughout metro Atlanta, the University Library provides faculty and students with open and inviting educational facilities and an active online experience. The Decatur campus is seeking to hire a Library Reference Specialist on a part-time basis (25 hours per week). The scope of the responsibilities will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following: Provide library reference and circulation support to library patrons at a combined service point Provide basic technology support to library patrons Assist in implementing new reference services as needed Assist with library instruction, as needed Assist with library's circulation functions and processing of materials Enforce library policies and procedures Help plan and participate in library outreach events, campus activities, and creation of displays Assist with collection development and maintenance May supervise library in absence of supervisor Participate in professional development and departmental meetings Please note: The hours for the position: Mon-Thurs: 2 - 7pm; Fri: 12:30-5:30pm. Qualifications : Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and one year of library, customer service or office experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Master's degree in Library and Information Science or current MLIS student. Strong organizational acumen and a proclivity for attention to detail and problem-solving. Recent experience in a college or university library. Familiarity with the use of computers in an office setting, including Microsoft Office. Experience with library circulation system, research databases, and library catalog. Experience with Springshare software products.
