Scope of Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Pharmacy Informatics, this position will develop, test, train, maintain, and support clinical systems used in medication management and related pharmacy automation. The position is a member of the Pharmacy Informatics Team, which serves the pharmacy enterprise. The pharmacy enterprise consists of the following: Inpatient and outpatient areas of University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital East, James Cancer Hospital, Harding Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital, and Dodd Davis Rehabilitation Hospital. OSU Physician Group and The Ohio State Outpatient Pharmacy are also considered part of the pharmacy enterprise. The pharmacy enterprise has a close affiliation with all of the health sciences colleges, most importantly the College of Pharmacy. The pharmacy enterprise contributes to the academic and research mission of the university by training residents, publishing peer-reviewed papers, and precepting pharmacy student hours of experiential education.

Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst will provide specialized system expertise to the development, analysis, and implementation of moderate-to-high complexity enterprise-wide clinical system projects, promoting cooperation and collaboration with other team members to achieve Department of Pharmacy and OSUWMC enterprise goals. The position will develop, maintain, and support clinical application systems and automation that pertain to medication management. The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst will have primary responsibility for a specific practice area(s) and/or functionality(ies). The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst must be knowledgeable in various aspects of information systems terminology, information system processing, and desktop solutions. In addition, the Senior Clinical Applications Analyst will have expert-level knowledge of specific OSUWMC pharmacy operations, policies, and procedures, and will consult with pharmacy staff regarding ongoing changes in pharmacy practice. The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst will be competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis, implementation and support while considering the clinical implications of the application of technology to the current and future clinical environment. The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst will act as a role model for other team members.

As a member of the Willow Ambulatory team within the overall Pharmacy Informatics team, this position will have primary responsibility for informatics support of OSU Outpatient Pharmacy operations.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: This position requires a college degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health, or a related discipline. A minimum of four years of professional experience in information technology and/or healthcare is required; at least one year of experience in a Pharmacy Informatics role with demonstrated success in Pharmacy Informatics project management and systems support/maintenance is required. Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to independently manage projects with a complex scope, are preferred. Must be able to keep up with technological trends, including healthcare technology trends.

Epic certification in Willow Ambulatory is required; certification in Willow Inventory is preferred.
