Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's Degree in elementary education and/or arts education
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Elementary education experience in the classroom and experience teaching arts (music, art, theatre, dance) to young children
NC teaching license preferred but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate Art curriculum for elementary students, using the NC Essential Standard for Art.
  • Teach students fundamental Art concepts
  • Organize and conduct Art activities
  • Introduce students to a variety of Art genres, styles, and cultures.
  • Prepare and organize performances for the middle and end of year Showcase.
  • Assess students' art abilities and progress through observation, tests, and projects.
  • Collaborate with the music coordinator to integrate music with other subjects and enhance overall learning experiences.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged and supported.
  • Stay informed about current trends and developments in art education.
