Responsibilities

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the oceanfront. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has an opening for a Clinical Supervisor.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

  • Will assists in training of interns, new social work staff
  • Provides social work and care management services for the patients.
  • Completes biopsychosocial assessments, discharge/aftercare planning and liaisons with community resources.
  • Provides care management to assigned patients and provides group, family and individual counseling sessions as prescribed.
  • Responsible for documentation of individual, family and group counseling sessions. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Two or more years experience preferred in a Social Work environment
  • MS degree in social work, psychology or sociology.
  • Develops social work assessments and identifies needs of the patient as evidenced by a written summary and conclusion.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of clinical interventions based on oral and written daily progress of the patient.
  • Participates in team and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Facilitates family sessions and individual sessions as indicated.
  • Reports HIPAA related concerns.
  • Acts as hospital representative when medical records are subpoenaed; delivers records to court.
  • Provides group therapy as evidenced by completed progress notes assessed in chart reviews.
  • Attends monthly social work meetings.
  • Provides case management and discharge planning as evidenced by documentation, coordinating difficult cases with Director.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
