The Intern will be responsible for assisting the department to meet the needs of the organization, project management and assisting with process improvement.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Planning and implementing safety measures to reduce or eliminate workplace risk and exposure
  • Provides input in the revision, updating and improvement of various site EHS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Participate in leadership review and daily report-outs with the EHS Department
  • Assist with various investigations such as employee injuries, employee complaints, chemical releases/spills, and near miss.
  • Works with departments to identify and remediate hazards.
  • A basic understanding of Safety Management Systems or Regulations
  • Assist with the key project(s), other projects assigned and meet deadlines for project deliverables
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Gain valuable work experience and prepare for future career
  • Other Day-to-day department responsibilities may be assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Seeking candidate that is currently enrolled in college, preferably a junior or higher
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Possess a high level of self-motivation and excellent time management skills
  • Possess effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and internal networks
  • Demonstrated ability to review, communicate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential for the role
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

  • Reports to the Director of Employee Health and Safety
  • Supports members of the EHS teams and will work with manufacturing and maintenance as needed.
