Position Purpose:

Drawing on extensive knowledge of goods and services, legal terms and business requirements, responsible for preparing/generating contract language/documents for vendors and service providers by ensuring all terms and conditions within the contracts meet business requirements and contain all required approvals and signatures. Logistics:

This position is located ONSITE at our Pipeline Building location at 105 New Way Road Columbia, SC 29223. This position is full time, 40 hours per week/8 hours per day, Monday-Friday.

What You'll Do:

  • Drafts goods and services related contractual agreements: obtains from and prepares contract documents for goods and services vendors and/or subcontractors and consultants.

  • Conducts initial review of agreements, prepares redlines and consults with internal/external legal counsel.

  • Consults with internal buyers/clients regarding purpose, timetable, and cost.

  • Problem solving: receives goods and services contract related inquiries, researches contract related issues, provides suggested solutions, convenes and manages the ad hoc teams to resolve the problem.

  • Generates contracts ranging in value from tens of thousands to millions of dollars for management and Law Department final approval.

  • Negotiations: Controls the goods and services agreement negotiations process, secures attorneys and technical experts, leads the negotiation sessions, ensures redlines are produced in a timeframe consistent with deadlines. Resolves roadblocks and facilitates mutual agreement.

  • Reporting: Stores partially and fully negotiated agreements in database and on Law Dept. network. Provides monthly reports to management.

  • Coordinates with Corporate Law personnel regarding throughput of the legal review process.

  • May conduct Request for Proposal (RFP) training and prepare and maintain template documents for the RFP process.

  • May conduct training on purchasing policies and contract administration.

  • Closure: Obtains final signatures on agreements from authorized personnel. Ensures that final agreements are properly matched with purchase requisitions and purchase orders.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need the Following:

  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree

  • Required Work Experience: 3 years contract administration experience

  • Degree Equivalency: 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

  • Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Acts as liaison with other areas

    • Analyzes information

    • Conducts audits

    • Drafts contracts

    • Leads negotiates sessions.

  • Required Software and Tools: Microsoft Office skills
