A. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Procedures are developed to assure the integrity of the components and assemblies used in all respective products.




  1. Total cost of quality is monitored, controlled, and reduced through an emphasis on preventive quality control techniques.




  1. Implement the use of Komatsu procedures at all internal and external suppliers.




  1. Collect and analyze welding and machining defect data and implement corrective measures as needed.




  1. Provide Quality Engineering technical support to the Quality Department as well as to all levels of the Facility, Engineering, Purchasing, and Suppliers as required.




  1. Major capital expenditures are justified by documentation and analysis. Results are presented for management approval.




  1. Conduct Rebuild Requirement Assessments at facility or on-site at supplier's facilities




  1. Conduct Exit Audits on Rebuild and OE equipment.




  1. Support customer disassembly and failure analysis for warranty returns.




  1. Conduct internal audits of the Quality Management System at Komatsu Facilities as required.




  1. Conduct On-site audits at Supplier Facilities as required.




B. PREDOMINANT TASKS



  1. Generate and implement First Article requires for all components being manufactured by Komatsu Suppliers




  1. Monitor & track the progression of all First Articles ensuring that they are not only fully completed but completed in a timely manner.




  1. Investigate causes of quality costs and initiate corrective action.




  1. Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions for observed nonconformities.




  1. Maintain and communicate a current level of knowledge of government specifications and regulations as it applies to our industry. (i.e., MSHA or other governing agency)




  1. Develop and administer training for new employees, products, and processes.




  1. Develop quality systems to collect, collate, monitor, and provide performance feedback on key competency products.




  1. Support ISO program by participating in site audits.




  1. Develop and implement procedures to be utilized by the inspection personnel and/or manufacturing personnel.




  1. Produce reports that will effectively communicate to other functional areas the results of specific studies or other performance measurements.




  1. Develop and maintain the company quality standards as required to ensure continuity and effectiveness.




  1. Organize and develop procedures to ensure compliance to ISO standards.




  1. Manage the implementation of projects related to quality as assigned.




  1. Assist in the review of all forms of the fabrication process and final product (dimensional requirements, weld types, weld sizes, weld continuity, etc.).




  1. Assist in the review of all forms of the assembly process and final product (dimensional requirements, correct fit-up and functionality, customer requirements, etc.).




C. TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT


The employee will be functioning in:




  1. Manufacturing environments, primarily where welding, machining and assembly activities are present.




  1. Vendor sites (same as above)




  1. Customer sites to include underground operations (deep underground mines)
