Senior Associate, Forensics - Family Law

Job Summary:

The Senior Associate, Forensics - Legal, Litigation - Family Law is responsible for document intake, as well as research functions, report and analyses quality control, and ensuring adherence to BDO USA, P.C.'s Client Acceptance Procedures and Quality Assurance Review procedures.

Job Duties:



  • Actively assists on multiple client projects and valuations of various types of entities for litigation purposes
  • Analyzes financial statements and trends in consideration of appropriate valuation methodologies
  • Researches and evaluates market transactions and public company data to determine appropriate valuation multiples
  • Utilizes and maintains financial and valuation models
  • Organizes documents and information received from clients and counsel on Family Law valuation engagements
  • Synthesizes economic and industry research to support appropriate and relevant assumptions
  • Creates workpapers to support family law valuation analyses
  • Contributes to drafting of valuation reports
  • Performs quality control reviews of reports, calculations, analyses, and underlying research
  • Confirms all assumptions supported with documentation
  • Participates in management interviews, including developing appropriate interview questions
  • Implements BDO USA, P.C. Client Acceptance Procedures (including researching and maintaining documentation related to prospective clients)
  • Conducts data entry and review of financial information
  • Reviews in detail valuation reports issued by opposing experts, including analysis of assumptions and methodologies
  • Identifies and requests relevant documents and information to complete the valuation engagement
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree required; focus in Accounting, Economics, or Finance, preferred


Experience:



  • Two (2) or more years of experience performing valuation engagements in a valuation, accounting, and/or consulting professional services firm, preferred
  • Experience in business valuation services specific to Texas Family Law, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • Relevant valuation-specific certification or credential (Accredited in Business Valuation by the AICPA, Certified Valuation Analyst by NACVA, Chartered Financial Analyst, American Society of Appraisers), preferred


Software:



  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, strong Microsoft Excel skills, required

  • Strong analytical and basic research skills related to the retrieval and organization of high volume of information
  • Strong organizational skills, especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
