PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the direction of the Farm Seed Manager, this position is responsible for the managing & promotion of the corn and soybean product lines for Seedway. This is for the Maine, New England States, New York, Ohio and Michigan geography where Seedway Hybrid Corn and Soybeans are marketed. The C&S Product Manager will collaborate with the Northern Corn and Soybean Product Manager for the processes of selection, introduction, promotion, life cycle, and inventory management of the above listed products.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Provides supervision and leadership for sales and any necessary product support staff

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Collaborates on the C&S business for the Seedway brands and helps prepare the annual budget for sales and margin attainment.

Participates in sales activities, product needs, and service requirements with the designated geography to ensure maximum sales opportunity, margin, efficiency, and synergy.

Manages corn and soybean trials in accordance with companies' goals. This would include any necessary university trials.

Participates in selected sales activities, i.e. customer meetings, trade shows, and sales meetings to keep abreast of sales trends and sales environment.

Analyze yield data for hybrid/variety recommendations and communicate these results to sales staff. Help utilize available databases as sales tools and train sales staff to best use those tools.

Monitors inventory to ensure availability and proper levels of production. Provides supply updates to sales team and offer recommendations for replacement. Helps promote any aging product to ensure limited aging inventory.

Provides product and agronomic support, inventory insight, and product information to professional sales force and customers on a regular basis to promote products and stimulate sales. Would need to be willing to work with the Marketing team to accomplish this.

Coordinates development and printing of sales literature with Seedway Marketing Manager and Growmark Seed Division Marketing Manager.

Collects phenotypic information, analyzes yield data, and provides product introduction recommendations based on replicated plot data and genetic supplier information.

Maintains a professional and respectful relationship with genetic suppliers and trait providers to continue to sustain Seedway's good standing in the industry.

Utilizes GROWMARK, Inc. professionals as appropriate to facilitate product line and brand development.

Coordinates advertising content and schedules with Director of Marketing of Seedway.

Works with System Seed Partner Professionals to coordinate the efforts of the eastern brands to grow our market share and improve profitability within the system.

Maintains industry and university contacts to keep informed on developing trends and product introductions in assigned product areas.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.

Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a bachelor's degree in agriculture, Marketing, or business-related discipline, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 -7 years or more of agronomy sales related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products, in addition to market analysis, pricing strategies and supply forecasts.

Proven sales leadership and closing techniques.

Proven ability to build relationships, identify producer needs and make whole farm proposals.

Proven professional communication, customer service, interpersonal, presentation, and persuasion skills.

Demonstrated planning, time management and organizational skills.

Ability to be self-directed, make decisions, and work in a team-oriented environment.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
