The Program

Mallinckrodt is offering an 11-week internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Here, you will be able to apply what you have learned in the classroom to a corporate environment. In addition, our internship program is designed to include networking opportunities across the company, professional development workshops, and community service.

SUMMARY:
The Global Medical Information (GMI) Intern is primarily responsible for providing technical and clinical information support regarding product usage and performance to the GMI team. The Intern will evaluate extensive literature searches for products marketed and sold by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. In addition to serving external customers, the intern will be vital to educating his/her fellow co-workers within Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Complies with all relevant related guidelines, standards and regulations pertaining to medical information inquiries and Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Provides fair and balanced responses to unsolicited complex medical inquiries (including off-label inquiries).

  • Creates, maintains, and updates scientific response documents (SRDs).

  • Performs independent timely and accurate reviews of promotional and medical material on Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical products.

  • Critically evaluates medical/scientific literature and determines appropriate usage for Custom Response Documents (CRDs).

  • Retrieves, disseminates, and archives pertinent data to appropriate parties.

  • Conducts trend analysis and insight generation on clinical and technical inquiries of marketed pharmaceutical products and medical devices.

  • Provides scientific support to the medical affairs organization.

  • Provides professional consultation in matters related to safety, efficacy, and proper product usage as needed.

  • Collaboratively and effectively communicates with various departments, including Legal Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, R & D, Engineering, Business Development Leadership, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service.

  • Conducts a final presentation for the medical affairs team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:

  • Students pursuing an advanced science degree (i.e. PharmD, RPh, RN, PA etc.) [Masters degree must be completed]

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Previous Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and or Medical Information experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Knowledge of clinical background, including protocols, products and the scientific and medical literature.

  • Have a key interest in specialty pharmacy products (i.e. critical care, autoimmune & rare disease and hepatology).

  • Advanced scientific literature search and evaluation skills.

  • Writing skills necessary to effectively communicate technical/medical information to others.

  • Knowledge of appropriate guidelines for medical writing; proper formatting of references, citations, etc.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Embase, Medline & Biosis

  • Good communication and time management.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Committed and self-motivated team player.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to effectively integrate customer and business needs in a satisfactory manner.

This position is hybrid (2 days in office/3 days remote).

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

The Intern will interact with a variety of Corporate Divisions. These Divisions include, but are not limited to, Legal Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, R & D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Customer Service. The degree and scope of the interaction will vary depending on the specific needs at the time.
