Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Engineering or Physics Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in our Fuel Development, Performance and Qualification department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. You will focus primarily on projects involving gamma-ray spectroscopy. Projects will involve experimental-nuclear-fuel irradiation in INL's Advanced Test Reactor (ATR). You will help setup and monitor the electronics and gamma-ray detectors used to measure fission products released during these experiments. You will also analyze measured data for fission product release rates using both commercially- and independently-developed software. Other projects will involve the Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) safety tests of irradiated fuel using radiation measurement processes. Direct measurements of fuel and other materials containing gamma-emitting fission products will also be made. You are expected to be a strong asset to our interdisciplinary Research and Development (R&D) team and work both alone and as a team member. You will write scientific manuscripts for journal publication and presentation of research results at national and international conferences and meetings. Qualifications
