Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year of full time coaching and/or playing experience at the college level in the sport of football. In lieu of college level coaching experience, a combination of two (2) years of coaching experience at the high school, college, professional or national team level and playing experience at the college, professional or national team level in the sport of football may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program). Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Defensive Coaching Assistant is responsible for helping with a variety of administrative tasks and game operations associated with the efficient operation of a Division I football program. This position will report directly to the Head Football Coach and will be the primary liaison with various athletic department staff members. They will be responsible for assisting in coordinating the administrative side of the recruiting process, including database management and film evaluations. They will also assist with NCAA Compliance and Official Visit planning. Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach.

Defensive Game Planning



  • The incumbent will mainly be responsible for working closely with the current players in regards to their athletic and academic obligations, financial obligations, assisting with professional development for life after college, identifying and coordinating team community service efforts and other daily tasks in which the student-athletes encounter on a regular basis. In addition, it will help with film breakdown, and Defensive position groups.


Recruiting Administration



  • This position will assist in the administrative side of the Recruitment Process. This will involve helping with the Recruiting software programs and subscriptions. This will require the incumbent to help identify, evaluate, collect data, and collect video on prospects to provide direction to the Coaching Staff through available and permissible sources. They will also help monitor permissible recruiting websites at the direction of the coaching staff to provide updates on committed prospects.


Game Development



  • The assistant will work closely with the Defensive players on the field in developing the fundamentals of the game, and improving their skill sets. Will help other assistant coaches in running drills/practice set up, and helping to improve players knowledge of the game.


Compliance



  • In conjunction with the Compliance Office and in accordance with NCAA regulations, the Assistant will be responsible for helping with official/unofficial visits with duties such as student-athlete complimentary ticket requests and coordinating on-campus visits.


Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a part-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
