About The Role

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintains high level of customer relations service by opening accounts, service and maintenance to existing accounts, and explaining and processing financial services offered by the bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure professional, prompt, efficient and courteous service is provided to new and existing customers.
  • Interviews customers to obtain information and explain available financial services such as savings and checking accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit,
  • Opens new accounts and accurately types account information obtained from customer on signature card or form, and enters into computer.
  • Adheres to all applicable compliance requirements.
  • File maintenance on accounts. Answers customer questions and investigates and corrects errors, following customer and establishment records. Exercises discretion, judgment and initiative regarding transaction problems and inquiries.
  • Presents funds received from customer to Teller for deposit, and obtains receipt for customer.
  • Ensure prompt, efficient and courteous service in renting of and granting access to safe deposit boxes. Admits customers to safe deposit vault.
  • In a branch with multiple new accounts representatives, position may provide guidance to other new accounts representatives.
  • May act as backup teller when needed.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully in situations with customers.
  • Ability to cross-sell bank products and services.
  • Process check orders.
  • Complete onboarding process for new and existing customers
  • Process new account "Thank you" letters.
  • Processes wire transfers
  • Process Reg DD disclosure statements to appropriate maturing Certificate of Deposit customers.
  • Knowledgeable about bank security.
  • Understands policies and procedures of operations department.
  • Responsible for protecting bank from fraud at new accounts.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and complete documentation received on new accounts.
  • Prepares new account listing.
  • Prepares closed account listing.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum of six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have prior financial industry experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
