Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Market Director of Coding directs and coordinates the management/leadership functions of Coding for the Texas Region facilities (STHS, Texoma Medical Center, Northwest Texas Healthcare System, Doctors Hospital and Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center. Position provides leadership and management of the for IP/OP coding accuracy based on established expectations/goals in accordance with established policies/procedures and any state/federal coding guidelines to include management of the DNFB, working directly with CBO and local Business Office on edits, denials and any follows-ups needed for billing, in addition to working closely with CDI leadership. Responsible for establishing checks and balances to ensure compliance of Coding programs through collaboration and establishment of close working relationships with HIM, facility departments, leadership, medical staff, CBO, corporate office and others as needed to manage DNFB. Responsible for the management of appropriate staffing of these groups to ensure timelines and goals are met. Responsible for coordination of meetings with regarding proper coding, DNFB management, clinical documentation improvement and accurate charge master items. Responsible and accountable for providing exceptional customer service.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three to five years acute care inpatient coding required.

2. Three to five years of auditing/training in medical coding

3. Two years of management/supervisory position or leadership role.

4. Strong organizational, process improvement, analytical and problem-solving skills.

5. Ability to read medical reports, interpret lab values as pertinent to coding diagnoses, abstract pertinent

information from records and to provide meaningful information by telephone or letter in replying to

inquiries.

6. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or Healthcare related field or International MD degree required

2. RHIT, RHIA, or CCS required

3. Must be able to travel between facilities within the Texas Region.
