*Description*
Our client - an entity that supports the insurance industry in North Carolina - seeks an IT Project Manager/Solutions Manager to join their team. Reporting into the Director of Software Development, this professional will be responsible for the following: *The IT Project Manager ensures that all IT-related projects follow the Organization's adopted Project Methodology resulting in products that meet the specified business needs, and do so with high quality, on schedule, and within budget. *The IT Project Manager receives project assignments based on prioritizations from Senior Management. From there, the IT Project Manager ensures that all the roles, responsibilities and activities of the project are performed (either by assuming those roles themselves, or by identifying internal or outsourced resources). These roles, responsibilities and activities may include (but are not limited to); business analysis, team formation and management, software evaluations, data conversions, test plans, training programs, documentation, and budget management. *In some cases, the IT Project Manager may manage a high number of projects while assuming a limited role within each project. *In other cases, the IT Project Manager may assume the complete business analysis role on a project, therefore limiting the number of projects they manage. *The Director of Software Development will provide direction to the IT Project Manager regarding which roles to assume in order to better utilize the specific talents of that individual (e.g., insurance industry experience or technical background). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Analysis * Analyze pros and cons of solutions and make recommendations for solutions as requested. * Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications. * Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. * Create systems models, functional specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers. * Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. * Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization. * Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. * Learn and understand new technologies and business processes quickly and recommend user friendly solutions. Collaboration * Participating in project teams, and assuming project team roles (including but not limited to business analysis, team formation and management, software evaluations, data conversions, test plans, training programs, documentation, and budget management. * Respond to 2nd and 3rd level support issues in a timely and professional manner to both internal and external customers. * Managing multiple priorities and to adapt to constantly changing priorities. Communications * Communicate information (written, verbal, listening and interpersonal) to technical and nontechnical individuals. Initiative * Mentor other team members to educate them on project participation, analysis, process and procedure. * Research emerging methodologies and technologies and make recommendations to management on upgrades and improvements. Knowledge/Development * Participate in individual and team training events, meetings, educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations and maintaining personal networks to ensure that technical skills and industry knowledge is up-to-date. Share resulting knowledge with team members. * Remain current in project management skills applicable to job responsibilities through personal learning experiences. Quality * Provide assistance, when needed, with regression testing applications after server hardware or software upgrades or assists System Testing with identification of appropriate risk or target areas for change impact to develop appropriate regression test plans. * Deliver quality work, with attention to detail for all tasks Responsibility/Dependability * Follow all processes and procedures associated with the organization's Software Development Life Cycle. Technical Skills * Maintain an understanding in technologies appropriate to the project(s) assigned. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
