Job Summary/Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for driving efficiency and effectiveness in the daily operations and delivery of their assigned area by providing adequate resources, on-going work direction, and problem-solving for their team. These actions ensure that Operational KPI's and business goals are achieved in accordance with Company policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost, as well as other key business metrics within their influence at the Wadesboro plant.
- Reports to and informs Plant Manager of all shift activities relating to the manufacturing and assembly of scheduled production needs.
- Supervises activities of machine shop and maintenance department personnel. Duties include but are not limited to scheduling machine/work assignments and hours of work, training, associate performance reviews and communication.
- Analyzes production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments, making schedule adjustments as needed.
- Plans daily operations, optimizes the utilization of skills, available work hours, material, and workflow to ensure timely production within acceptable quality standards.
- Leads functional resources within the assigned value stream, including manufacturing engineering, product engineering, material handling, and quality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability in using Lean manufacturing tools and processes to drive continuous improvement across complex organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
- Knowledge of and experience in ERP systems.
- Experienced in performance management and possesses the skills to coach, guide, and influence.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of manufacturing based leadership experience.
- Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Must possess technical skills such as: blueprint reading, work measurement, and using precision measuring instruments. Good organizational, planning, and communication skills required.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing preferred.
