Primary Purpose of this Job

The primary purpose of this pre-apprenticeship is to develop a strong understanding of manufacturing and shop floor practices and comply with all safety and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

• Support staff in various departments.
• Work as a resource for management on special projects and initiatives.
• Understand and learn the safety requirements of operating machine tools and working in a machine shop environment.
• Understand and learn the quality processes of the facility.
• Assist in kitting for proper setup of equipment prior to machining.
• Assist in the machining process through the mentorship of experienced machine operators.
• Understand and assist in the necessary preventative maintenance of machine tools.
• Be exposed to precision measuring equipment.
• Support process improvement and cost reduction activities.
• Participate in lean manufacturing events including 5S, TPM, and CIL improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Authority to perform all tasks/activities responsible for.

• Current senior in high school at CT River Academy or other area high school in partnership with Goodwin University
  
• Knowledge of shop environment
• Computer skills
