Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The engineer position must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.



Responsibilities

    Provide technical and engineering leadership, and supports the development of new technologies within a local laboratory
  • Setup and Perform testing in the lab following test procedures and interpreting requirements from testing standards
  • Write SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for new technical processes in the lab
  • Operate mechanical testing equipment which can include hydraulic pumps, pressurized systems, heating and cooling systems, etc.
  • Write test procedures in accordance with customer provided details and/or relevant testing standards Perform general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, quality as well as Health and Safety system Application of instrumentation and the setting up of data capture equipment
  • Be accountable for accurate and timely release of testing data to customers including sign-offs of quality control data as acceptable
  • Be expected to obtain guidance in non-routine situation testing
  • Have the ability to oversee standard and/or routine technical problem solving activities
  • Interact with customers on technical issues and questions
  • Assist in the professional development of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratory
  • Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data
  • Utilize an assortment of skill, methods, procedures and materials in advanced testing analysis
  • Be adept at drawing on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions


Skills / Qualifications

  • Possesses Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant related discipline
  • Previous experience in an appropriate Engineering environment is a distinct advantage
  • Experience of working within a Mechanical testing environment is advantageous
  • An understanding of a recognized Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 is beneficial
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools.
  • An understanding of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams is a distinct advantage
  • Experience with AC and DC electrical circuits is a distinct advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
