POSITION TITLE: Animal Resources Supervisor II

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Establishes and oversees the daily work schedule for staff, ensuring tasks are completed per standard operating procedures, including tracking attendance.
  • Supervises cage washing operations, including personnel management and equipment maintenance.
  • Sets customer service standards for laboratories requiring custom arrangements.
  • Schedules and attends laboratory check-in meetings to update customer service standards.
  • Collaborates with the Manager and Director on researcher space needs.
  • Compiles monthly billing, reconciles cage inventory, and maintains all pertinent records.
  • Documents and reports weekly facility quality assurance (QA) with appropriate follow-ups.
  • Manages employee relations, including performance evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, and assisting the Manager and Director with discipline and termination processes.
  • Participates in reviewing, interviewing, and assessing candidates, providing recommendations to the Manager and Director in the recruiting and hiring of new staff.
  • Communicates with research staff on animal health, breeding, or regulatory issues and assists veterinary staff in training on animal health observations and treatments.


REQUIREMENTS:



    • A Bachelor's degree in a life science, RVT license or LAT certification.
    • Minimum 5 years animal laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Director.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Effective interpersonal relation skills.
    • Participation in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations is required.
    • LATG certification is preferred.


      COMPENSATION:

      The expected hiring range for this position is $82,000 to $98,400 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
