Our Military Global Sustainment (MGS) team is looking for an Operations Director to be responsible for all operations-related activities within the Military Global Sustainment business. You will report to directly to the MGS Group Vice President and General Manager, and have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY.

You'll be responsible for leading and influencing a highly effective, results-oriented team of professionals across 3 military aircraft sites. As a global military aftermarket organization, the Operations Director will be determining and executing the operations strategy to stand up a new Military Repair Organization (MRO) facility and organization to achieve the long-term business strategy.

To be considered for the Operations Director role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience. This experience should include continuous improvement, process improvement and variation reduction.

    • Experience in a complex aftermarket repair environment strongly desired.

  • Relevant industry (Aerospace) experience is highly desirable.The successfulcandidate must be able to demonstrate an appropriate balance of strong process leadership and relationship building with customers (both internally and externally.)

  • Proven track record of leading changes and driving improvement in business/operations performance.

  • Demonstrated business acumen, with the ability to engage the right organizational resources to quickly and effectively resolve customer problems.

  • Strong leader of people and team builder, as well as an excellent communicator at all levels both internally and externally.

  • Experience in budgeting and cost control management.

  • Demonstrated experience in enacting lean manufacturing strategies and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to influence all functions within the Military Aircraft Group that impact operations.

  • This job requires an active US Government security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

As the Operations Director, you will:

  • Be determining and executing the operations strategy to stand up a new Military Repair Organization (MRO) facility and organization to achieve the long-term business strategy.

  • Be responsible for the development, communication, alignment and deployment of the divisional strategy within each of their operations functions, as well as alignment with other functional support resources, e.g. Program Management, Quality and Engineering.

  • Hire and lead functional managers within various Operations disciplines, including Assembly & Test, Supply Chain, and Planning, to build strong teams, enhance performance, and develop and execute core processes.

  • Manage through influence without direct line reporting.

  • Support the development, review and revision of work instructions and repair procedures.

  • Prepare long range planning for continuous departmental improvement in alignment with other functional support resources.

  • Have ownership for operations tiered management system, and accountable for the resolution of all escalations within the operations functions.

  • Participate as a member of the MGS Leadership Team to take an active role in shaping the division's strategy development and deployment efforts.

  • Maintain and communicate daily, weekly, monthly KPIs / operations metrics.

  • Create, implement and monitor division cost performance by platform and part number as well as overall division cost performance.

  • Coordinate divisional operations input to the Integrated Business Planning process. Ensure adequate capacity exists to perform to the committed work.Ensure repair operations are sized appropriately for demand load and cost targets.

  • Establish and manage yearly division operations headcount, operating expense budget and capital budget to support the repair strategic plan.

  • Assist in implementing a culture that embraces the Moog culture and values.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $180,000.00-$230,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
