About the Role:

The Farese and Walther Laboratory studies the biochemistry of cellular lipid metabolism and homeostasis. We are seeking an outstanding individual to join the team as a Research Specialist with master's or PhD training in lipid analysis. The successful candidate will become part of an inclusive, interdisciplinary and diverse team that investigates mechanisms of lipid metabolism and their function in physiology and disease.

Our laboratory, at HHMI and the Sloan Kettering Institute in New York City, has projects are available to understand the biochemistry and cell biology of lipid storage, as well as the physiology and pathophysiology of lipid metabolism, for instance in cancer and neurodegenerative disease.

What You Bring:

  • Applicants should possess a master's degree in physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology and have a strong publication record.

  • Knowledge of lipidomics and mass spectrometry.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative group environment.

  • Effective communication skills, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.

  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.

  • Proactive approach to research work with an eagerness to learn and grow.

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Compensation Range

$73,485.00 (minimum) - $91,800.00 (midpoint) - $119,370.00 (maximum)

Pay Type:

Annual

HHMI's salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
