Summary

The MIL Corporationis seeking anInformation Systems Security Engineer - ISSE (Info. Systems & Cyber Security, Senior Associate)to providesupport to accomplish feature deployment, security policy implementation, multi-factor authentication, access control enforcement, activity monitoring, configuration tuning, and system administration insupport of a Federal Government client located in Norfolk, VA.

This position currently requires a hybrid schedule. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with all relevant Security Operations Center (SOC) customer groups including, systems administration team, network teams, security teams, infrastructure team, Enterprise Help Desk, program managers and business unit sponsors

  • Achieve and maintain Department of the Navy (DoN) Authorization to Operate (ATO) for all CNIC operational IT boundaries, ensuring compliance with applicable directives, instructions, and guidelines.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in RMF processes, ensuring security needs are met in alignment with CNIC and DoD requirements

  • Fulfill and maintain DoD and DoN Cybersecurity Workforce qualification requirements

  • Guide and assist system owners through RMF steps 1 to 5, including:

    • Information system categorization (CNSS 1253, FIPS 199) and documentation using approved forms

    • Security control selection, tailoring, and implementation, documented in eMASS.

    • Creation of RMF artifacts, procedural documentation, and cybersecurity deliverables for risk assessment and authorization

    • Configuration management to comply with Federal, NIST, DoD, and DON requirements

    • Continuous monitoring and vulnerability management

  • Conduct vulnerability scanning, apply STIGs/patches, and manage findings through mitigation, remediation, and documentation in eMASS and VRAM

  • Maintain the Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) and configuration management plans, tracking milestones and ensuring timely completion

  • Evaluate threats, vulnerabilities, and security findings, providing recommendations to improve IT resource protection

  • Review security design documentation for compliance with DoD and Federal requirements

  • Support eMASS and VRAM workflows, ensuring accurate and prompt artifact entries to facilitate ATO processes

Travel

Up to 10% yearly, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years relevant experience

  • Security+ Certification

  • 2 - 5 years of hands-on experience with the U.S. Navy Risk Management Framework Process Guide (RPG) NAO process and procedures

  • Expertise in RMF processes, tools (eMASS, VRAM, NESSUS), and compliance frameworks (CNSS 1253, FIPS 199, STIGs)

  • Strong understanding of DoD, DoN, and CNIC cybersecurity directives, processes, and business rules

  • Experience creating and maintaining RMF artifacts, vulnerability management, and configuration management plans

  • Able to communicate often with other team members

Desired Qualifications

  • CISSP Certification

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college. Six (6) years of work experiencerelated to the positionor an Associate's Degree plus four (4) years of additional work experience related to the position may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $115,000 - $171,000 per year.
