Instructor/Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at CUMC

The ColumbiaDoctors Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center seeks to child and adolescent psychiatrists for clinical outpatient psychiatry at the Instructor and Assistant Professor level. For all positions, responsibilities will include a combination of providing direct patient care, including assessment and psychotherapy, and teaching and supervision of psychology and/or psychiatry trainees and medical students.

Clinical work will consist mostly of providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatments with children, young adults, and adults. The setting requires flexibility, consultative skills, and active collaboration with other providers and team members. Relevant experience includes providing diagnostic psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacologic and short-term psychotherapeutic treatments for a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses.

Working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and communication skills is important. The department is invested in supporting and growing interested candidates in leadership and career development. In addition, candidates will have robust clinical supervision and didactic opportunities to refine and hone their clinical knowledge and skills.

Candidates will have opportunities to attend case conferences, peer supervision, and Grand Rounds at CUIMC. Candidates will work closely with a clinical team, including other psychiatrists, as well as psychologists/clinical social workers and psychiatric nurse-practitioners.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
MD or DO from accredited institution
New York State License
Active DEA License

Candidates will be required to obtain a NJ license

Completion of a child fellowship and board certification in child psychiatry (for graduating residents/fellows, Board certification within 6 months of start date is acceptable).
For MDs: appointment at the Instructor level requires graduation from a psychiatric residency program.
