This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events.



Job Summary

Lead actuarial analyses, pricing strategies, reserving, reinsurance and predictive modeling efforts to drive data-driven decision-making. The Senior Actuary will collaborate with underwriting, finance, claims, and senior leadership to optimize business performance and ensure regulatory compliance.



Responsibilities & Qualifications

Summary of Responsibilities

As the Actuary specializing in General Liability, Commercial Umbrella and Commercial Auto, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our pricing, underwriting and risk management strategies. You will:

    Lead Pricing and Profitability: Provide expert actuarial guidance to drive pricing decisions for General Liability, Commercial Umbrella and Commercial Auto lines, ensuring optimal profitability and competitiveness in the market.
  • Collaborate for Success: Partner with Underwriting, Claims, and Risk Management teams to develop data-driven insights and inform strategic decision-making. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding our approach to these critical business lines.
  • Be a Thought Leader: Actively work with regulators at insurance departments for rate filing approvals, showcasing your deep understanding of General Liability, Commercial Umbrella, and Commercial Auto. Your insights will shape the future of insurance in these complex and dynamic areas.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in the property/casualty insurance industry with a focus on General Liability, Commercial Umbrella, and/or Catastrophe risk management.
  • Deep understanding of data structures, statistical analysis, and modeling techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex actuarial concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration abilities, with a track record of influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on driving business results and mitigating risk.

Preferred Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field
  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)

The salary range for this position is $136,000-$170,000.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
