Description
The Physician Advisor provides physician leadership and clinical expertise related to coordination of patient care, length of stay and level of care management, care variation management, patient flow/throughput management, ancillary services utilization and clinical documentation improvement. The Physician Advisor reviews clinical cases to provide a physician perspective towards decisions on care coordination, patient status, care progression, patient access (authorization), care variation management and clinical documentation. Qualifications
Minimum Education/Training/Licensure Required: * Graduate of an accredited medical school * Completion of specialty residency (e.g. Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine) * Qualify for membership as a member of UCLA Health Medical Staff Experience, Skills and Abilities: * Five years of hospital utilization management experience, with demonstrated success in quality improvement * Leadership and fiscal management skills, with the ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives. * Advanced analytical, critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills, with in-depth ability to develop and pursue goals, integrate complex and sometimes disparate functions and develop and apply innovative solutions. * Advanced knowledge of all relevant healthcare information technology for functions within areas of responsibility. * Maintains knowledge of best practices, relevant systems and data management techniques and methodologies. * Demonstrated knowledge of a broad scope of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments. |
