Minimum Job Requirements


  • Physical- proficient in using a PC keyboard. Requires ability to physically move about the manufacturing floor.
  • Working Hours- fulltime (45+ hrs/week) employment.
  • Personal Traits- Good communication abilities and ability to work well with supervisors and employees. Ability to multi-task with conscientious attention to detail and accuracy.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for production processes, meeting production deadlines and managing the manufacturing function. This position is expected to help set the vision and execute strategic plans and direction, lead change efforts, and motivate teams to achieve established goals. Responsible for inventory control and levels. Authority to hire and fire employees subject to company policies. Authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day to day operation of the plant.


  • Lead and manage daily operations of the Plant.
  • Manage all Plant personnel (excluding those reporting to other corporate functions) including hiring, onboarding, terminating, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  • Determine manpower and capacity requirements to most efficiently produce products and meet production deadlines.
  • Plan for new products and ensure adequate capacity and capabilities exist.
  • Work with Quality Manager to ensure quality standards are met and upheld in all manufacturing and overhead departments.
  • Ensure all employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Support Human Resources with HR initiatives and onboarding.
  • Review production schedules and ensure output meets required deadlines while executing above, consistently monitor on-time delivery status.
  • Communicate regularly with employees to ensure they stayed informed and involved with the company.
  • Ensure cross-departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Overall responsibility for inventory control, including monthly physical and/or cycle counts.
  • Coordinate and supervise the completion of new Plant and new product line construction and equipment configuration, as required.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure Corporate directives are carried out throughout the Plant.
  • Ensure continuous improvements are identified and implemented in all departments.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e., tooling, drawing requirements, and interpretations.
  • Ensure adequate supervision is present in the Plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.
  • Ensure government requirements and regulations are followed.
  • Other ad hoc duties as requested or assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Excellent knowledge of the economics and the science of manufacturing, including goal setting and the measurement of progress against those goals.
  • Excellent understanding of metal processes including close tolerance machining and sheet metal fabrication
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a changing environment and manage large scale production programs with strong operations performance including a track record of on time delivery, quality and cost.
  • Must have experience in managing a business and full cycle execution to ensure that customer and business requirements are met.
  • Considerable experience in working with and understanding ISO requirements, AS9100 is preferred.
  • Experience in working on defense contracts strongly preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and an ERP type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing system.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others. Ability to run a 200 person plant.
  • Experience with an MRP system, six sigma, and 5S is desired.


Education and Experience


  • S. degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related field is required. A B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering is preferred. Significant machine shop or precision sheet metal manufacturing experience required; ten years' experience preferred.
