Position Title: Senior Accountant (Fleet Accounting)

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Schedule:Monday through Friday and additional as required/ requested

Location:Houston, TX (hybrid)

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:Minimum 5 years private or 3 years public accounting; Prior voyage accounting experience is a plus

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance and/ or CPA license are preferred

Software: Proficiency in Excel; prior experience with ERP systems; Workday and Adaptive knowledge is a plus

Traits: Team player, dependable, effective verbal and written communication, ability to multitask and prioritize, knowledge of GAAP

Languages: English

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process AR/ AP invoices and prepare month-end revenue/ expense accruals by vessel ("vessel accounting").
  • Manage a month-end financial close process for responsible areas/ vessels, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Review and analyze financial results on a vessel and voyage level to ensure accuracy and completeness of balances/ amounts for reporting purposes and work with operations on obtaining explanations for significant fluctuations actual vs. prior period and budget/ forecast.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages.
  • Monitor bank accounts and project weekly cash flows.
  • Participate in the budgeting and reforecasting process.
  • Assist with internal/ external financial, internal controls and operational audits.
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc reports, as required.
